by reading these lines, you are partaking in a new world of information processing and distribution. You are reading a journal for medical professionals, which is meant to promote a much faster - and cheaper - way to share knowledge in our field than ever before. As soon as an article is accepted and processed we post it on our Web-Server and it is ready to be downloaded by anyone. As far as we know, we are the only othopedic electronic journal that offers not only abstracts but fulltext articles including graphs and pictures.
As any serious medical journal, we do not want to be the publication organ of a single research facility. We therefore encourage anyone to submit papers. These papers may be about any topic related to Orthopedic surgery - of course papers which deal with subjects other than surgery, e.g. orthotics are welcome as well.
This journal is published on a non-profit basis, we therefore do not offer any payment for accepted articles. We will in near future charge a fee of $50 per accepted article to cover the costs of processing the HTML files - but for now there are no charges for publication.
But there are some requirements:
- Every author has to submit a statement that publishing the article in our journal does not infringe any rights of other persons. We do not check, but in the age of MEDLINE there is a fair chance that a plagiator does not get away or that publishers of other journals will notice multipe submissions. In this case we will not accept any responsibility for damages and refer to the statement of the person submitting an article.
- Even as we do not yet have instituted a formal board of editors, we will check the material by consulting well known authorities in the specialty to ensure an scientific standard.
- The Internet is dominated by the English language. Because of this we try to publish in English - but for now we will accept German language articles also, if they have hat least an English language abstract.
- Articles have to be sent as electronic data. We prefer PC Formats like Word or Wordstar. The text should contain only "carriage return" codes after headlines and paragraphs. Tables and graphs have to be saved in one file for every item. Acceptable is GIF and JPEG format. We will do a formatting to make the article comply with our "look and feel".
- The easiest way the submit an article is to write an E-Mail to us (see Cover Page) and attach the files. You may also send a 3.5 inch disk to
