Diabetic Foot Study Group (DFSG)

Aim of the Diabetic Foot Study Group

The aim of the Diabetic Foot Study Group of the European Association for the Study of Diabetes is to promote an advancement of knowledge on all aspects of diabetic foot care through active cooperation and collaboration between diabetologists, podiatrists, specialist nurses, orthopaedic and vascular surgeons and all other specialists with an interest in caring for diabetic patients with foot problems.
The main aim will be to bring together researchers working in this field through exchanges of experiences in research and clinical practice during regular meetings. In addition, the DFSG may also work actively for the promotion of European collaborative studies and also act as a reference group for the EASD in matters relating to foot problems, amputations, etc.

Next Study Group Meeting:

3rd Scientific Meeting of the Diabetic Foot Study Group of the EASD
Balatonfüred, Hungary, 29 August - 1 September 2002

General Information
The DFSG meeting is to be held at Balatonfüred, Lake Balaton, Hungary prior to the EASD Annual Meeting in Budapest. This meeting will take the form of invited lectures and oral/poster presentations and is open to all members of the EASD who have an interest in the diabetic foot syndrome. However, numbers will be limited, with preference being given to members of the Diabetic Foot Study Group. New membership is open to all members of the EASD who present an abstract during the 3rd Scientific Meeting of the Foot Study Group.

Registration and local accommodation expenses will be paid for by the organisers for all first (presenting) authors of abstracts that are accepted for presentation. In addition, as in Fiuggi and Crieff, we would hope to offer the same package for members of the DFSG nearer the time, i.e. that they pay a reduced rate for registration fee. For other participants, registration, accommodation and meals will be approximately Euro 300. Due to the fact that there are only 2 hotels available for this meeting, would you please consider sharing a room.

Travel expenses are to be paid by the participants themselves. Suggested airport to fly to is Budapest International Airport. Transfer from Budapest International Airport will be arranged.
